Britain and India resume talks on a free trade deal. This was stated in a statement by the office of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, published after his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Rio de Janeiro.
„The UK is committed to a new strategic partnership with India, including a trade agreement, as well as expanding our cooperation in areas such as security, education, technology and climate change,”, the document says.< /span>
Negotiations were suspended eight months ago due to the start of the election period in both countries. They were scheduled to resume in November.
According to the office, annual trade turnover between the two countries exceeds $50 billion, of which $21 billion comes from British exports.
