Children enrolled in compulsory pre-school education will be able to be absent from kindergarten for family reasons up to 15 days within a school year with written notification from the parent. This provides for a draft amendment to the Ordinance on preschool education, which has been published for public discussion on the website of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Currently, the maximum number of days allowed for absence from kindergarten due to family reasons is 10. By increasing them to 15, the requirements for children enrolled in compulsory preschool education will be synchronized with those for students, specified varna24.bg.
Now the same opportunity is available for kindergartens. Outside of these 15 days, for family reasons, children attending compulsory kindergarten are allowed to be absent for the duration of the school vacations determined for the respective year. They can also be absent for health or other valid reasons, certified by a document from a competent authority.
With the amendment of the Ordinance on Inclusive Education adopted last month, students were given the opportunity to be absent for up to 15 days within a school year with a motivated, written application from a parent to the class teacher. Thus, parents can independently make a decision regarding their children's absences from school in cases of family events, personal and family commitments, imperative trips, temporary indisposition, etc.
