Resolved: No regular plenary meetings and committees during an election campaign - 1

For the time since the opening of an election campaign election campaign for people's representatives, until the convocation of the newly elected National Assembly, regular plenary sessions and committee meetings should not be held. In this case, the deadlines under these regulations stop running, with the exception of the deadlines for written answers in parliamentary control. This is what the deputies voted for with the changes to the Rules for the Organization and Activities of the National Assembly adopted in the second reading.

The MPs rejected an editorial proposal of the "BSP for Bulgaria" to conduct, in addition to written, oral parliamentary control during a campaign. The proposal was made by Maya Dimitrova and was rejected with 63 votes “for“, 94 – “against“ and 56 – “abstained”. The other rejected editorial proposal was by Tsveta Rangelova from “Vazrazhdane”. It provided for the parliament to decide whether to sit during an election campaign.

The MPs supported the amendments to the regulations related to the remuneration of the people's representatives and the proposal, which explicitly regulates that there should be no double salaries. The adopted texts provide that the remuneration shall be accrued from the day of the oath-taking of the people's representatives until the day preceding the day of the swearing-in of the people's representatives elected in the next National Assembly.

In case of premature termination of the powers of a representative of the people, the remuneration is due until the date of the decision of the body. The texts provide that the remuneration shall be charged from the date of the election of the people's representatives to the respective positions and for committee members.

It is also planned that ministers elected as people's representatives in the next National Assembly will declare from which state body they wish to receive their due remuneration for the period until the election of a new Council of Ministers.
