On April 20, in the old style, we celebrate 148 years since the outbreak of the April Uprising in Koprivshtitsa.
Although it was unsuccessful, it represented a kind of peak of the Bulgarian national liberation movement, BNR recalls. The popular revolt for independence finds a strong echo in Western Europe and Russia.
Every year, celebrations are organized in the country to mark the memorable date.
On this occasion, a city-wide pilgrimage will be held in Varna in front of the monument to Georgi Benkovski in the Sea Garden.
The event will be accompanied by a military ritual of laying wreaths and flowers and a requiem prayer for the fallen heroes.
