One was admitted to the hospital on April 8, the doctors quickly got their bearings and the moment the test came out positive, the child was transferred to the Infectious Diseases Hospital. The second child came to us in a very serious condition," said the director of the Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment of Children's Diseases, "Prof. Ivan Mitev" Dr. Blagomir Zdravkov on Nova TV.
The doctor added that unfortunately, due to the serious condition the child was in and the complications, he died. "It arrived with signs of sepsis and multiple organ failure," he explained.
According to Dr. Blagomir Zdravkov, coughing in babies who are not yet two months old is a rather worrying and alarming symptom. "In older children, whooping cough occurs with very severe coughing symptoms. To such an extent that sometimes children get hemorrhages in their eyes from straining," added the doctor.
24,000 are children with a missed dose of pertussis vaccine. "The disease can also have a healthy infectiousness. That is, for a vaccinated person to have this bacterium, but not to have symptoms and transmit the disease to another," said the doctor.
