Calls for a boycott of the retail chain in Kosovo have appeared on social networks. The group "Boycott the markets" (BOJKOTO MARKETET) on Facebook called on Kosovo citizens not to buy anything on February 10.

The boycott will last 24 hours and is a protest against high prices, the organizers informed the group. They are calling on citizens to stock up on basic necessities from the so-called "green markets" and from local farmers.

"On February 10, we will not make a single purchase in supermarkets and if our voice is not heard, we will continue with other actions", states the description of a specially created event on Facebook for the boycott.

The organizers also emphasize that they are not affiliated with any political force, but are concerned about the price increase in the country and only want reasonable prices.

The group also published statistics to illustrate the high prices of products in the country compared to market prices in some European countries and members of the European Union. According to one of the published statistics, based on the global database for the cost of living "Numbeo", a liter of milk in Portugal costs 0.97 euros, in Germany - 1.14 euros, in Finland - 1.16 euros, in Belgium - 1.17 euros, and in Kosovo - 1.35 euros.

Another statistic compares the prices of some basic products in Kosovo and Poland, where the minimum wage is 500 euros and 1,725 euros, respectively. A comparison of data from "Numbeo" and the Polish State Statistical Office shows approximately the same prices in both countries for water, some vegetables and drinks, with the price in Kosovo being higher for a kilogram of potatoes, onions, rice and bananas.

"Neither in cash. Nor by card. By boycotting.", the organizers also wrote in the group.
