The possibility of issuing indefinite ID cards is no longer available. Instead, people aged 18 to 70 will be issued an ID card with a 10-year validity, and those over 70 an ID card with a 30-year validity. The Cabinet of Ministers adopted at a regular meeting a Decree amending and supplementing Tariff No. 4 for the fees that are collected in the system of the Ministry of the Interior under the Law on State Fees, BTA reported.
The need to introduce into national legislation new models of personal documents issued by Bulgaria is in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2019/1157 of the EP and of the Council of June 20, 2019 on increasing the security of personal cards of the citizens of the Union and of the residence documents issued to the citizens of the Union and their family members exercising their right to free movement.
What will the fees be?
Methodology for calculating the amount of fees for issuing Bulgarian personal documents has been prepared for determining the amount of state fees in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The following amounts of fees for Bulgarian identity documents for ordinary service have been determined: identity card - BGN 30; residence card - BGN 40; residence permit - BGN 40.
It is proposed to keep the fee of BGN 18 for an ordinary service for the new ID card until the end of 2024.
The fee for the residence permit of a long-term resident, a long-term resident and a foreigner permanently residing in Bulgaria is reduced from BGN 45 to BGN 40, and it is proposed to start collecting it from June 17 of this year
p>For the first issuance of an identity card to citizens aged 14 to 16, the preference for free issuance is retained for all three types of ordinary, fast and express service.
For issuing the next ID card to young people between 14 and 16 years old and for each ID card to people between 16 and 18 years old, the preferential fee is BGN 21.
For the issuance of an identity card to those over 70 years of age, the preference for free issuance is preserved for all three types of ordinary, fast and express service.
For citizens aged 18 to 58, the fee is BGN 30.
For the issuance of an identity card to persons with permanently reduced working capacity or the type and degree of disability of 50 and over 50 percent, a preferential fee of BGN three is reserved.
A preferential fee is provided for issuing an identity card to citizens whose biometric data cannot be taken due to temporary physical disability (plastering, burning, etc.) in the amount of BGN three.
In February, the government approved security elements used in the draft of the new Bulgarian personal documents of the “card“ type. and "passport" type. The goal is to increase the level of document security by using materials that meet the highest security and quality standards, introducing new security features by applying new security elements and technologies, and changing the security graphic design.
