The main earthquake in Plovdiv last night it was a magnitude 4.3 and then there were 17 aftershocks (aftershock series). They will continue in the coming days. A large part of them were not felt by people, because they were about 2. This is what the seismologist from the National Academy of Sciences Plamena Raykova said on the air of Nova TV.
According to her, what happened is not unusual for Plovdiv.
"The area is seismic. In 1928 there was a 7.1 magnitude earthquake there. In recent years, we have observed several earthquakes with a magnitude between 4 and 5 on the Richter scale," she pointed out.
The seismologist urged people to wait for the main earthquake to pass before leaving the building they are in. "They shouldn't use the elevator. If they are very high, they should lean against a stable wall so that they are not crushed by heavy objects. Most of all, they have to keep calm", Assoc. Raykova also said.
