The US Department of Defense did not comment on reports that an American F-16 fighter-bomber of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was shot down in the Zaporozhye region, a department representative said.
"The US Department of Defense has no comment or information to provide", the military said.
On December 26, the chairman of the Committee on Sovereignty, Patriotic Projects and Support for Veterans of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Rogov, told TASS that the F-16 was shot down in the Zaporozhye region, preparing to launch a missile strike.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier announced that the second batch of F-16 fighter jets had arrived in Ukraine from Denmark. He did not specify how many aircraft were involved. In November, Danish authorities announced that 6 F-16 fighter jets had been transferred to Ukraine and that the delivery of 13 more aircraft was planned.
