Sofia City Court will sit today in the case against 19-year-old Andrian Antonov, who on May 8, 2023 hit and killed on a pedestrian crossing on "Slivnitsa" Blvd. in Sofia, 22-year-old Yavor Stoyanov and his 24-year-old girlfriend Ani Malcheva.
He is charged with causing death by negligence and could face up to 15 years in prison. According to the experts, at a permitted speed of 50 km/h, he was traveling at 106 km/h.
The disaster caused a series of protests demanding the security of the section of "Slivnitsa" Blvd., where the accident happened, and more serious punishments for the guilty drivers. A protest is also scheduled for today before the court session, reported "Dnevnik".
