The subject of the introduction of the euro in our country caused a scandal between the parliamentary groups of Vazrazhdane, DPS and PP-DB, BNR reported.
The leader of "Revival" Kostadin Kostadinov again insisted on a referendum:
"Let's give the citizens the opportunity to indicate whether Bulgaria should rush at all costs to destroy one of the most stable currencies in the world at the moment - the Bulgarian lev, and one of the oldest in existence - with a 144-year history , as we will seek cooperation on these issues both in the National Assembly and in the European Parliament through our MEPs and our partner political forces at the European level, where on July 16 "Revival" will submit a petition to hold a referendum in Bulgaria and for which petition we have already secured, at this stage, the support of 9 political parties from all European countries".
Yordan Tsonev from DPS reminded that the negotiations are moving according to schedulek:
"We knew in advance that the June report would be negative in terms of inflation, as this is a process that cannot be corrected within a few months or half a year. In September-October there will be an "update" of this report and then we will have covered the criterion and the bad news for you is that Bulgaria will receive a decision to introduce the euro next June and will introduce it on January 1, 2026, as is the right thing to do. And everyone else who talks about introducing the euro in the middle of the year just doesn't understand this process.
Martin Dimitrov from PP-DB accused "Vazrazhdane" in manipulation:
"Croatia, when it introduced the euro, had the highest income growth in the European Union. That is why you are against the Eurozone, because you do not want this great success for Bulgaria! In the middle of 2025, from July 1, it is completely possible, completely real, to introduce the euro in Bulgaria. The rest are lies and insinuations.
