Inspections of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) in 551 animal breeding sites found that the animals are clinically healthy.
Intensified inspections continue next week, until the entire livestock is covered, because of outbreaks of plague in small ruminants in neighboring countries, the press center of the Agency reported, quoted by Darik radio. In the past week, more than 11,000 small ruminants raised in 220 settlements were examined. The checks are carried out by the official veterinarians from the regional directorates of the BABH in connection with an order of the executive director of the Agency, issued due to established outbreaks of the plague of small ruminants in Romania and Greece.
We would like to remind you that the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) receives reports on the 24/7 phone number 0 700 122 99 about violations of the measures against the introduction of plague of small ruminants in Bulgaria. Complaints and reports on unregulated imports, movements and sales of live animals are accepted on the phone.
