The Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova urgently requested from all primary budget spending units information necessary for the preparation of the draft of the State Budget Act for 2025 and for an accurate preliminary assessment of the deficit for 2024 on an accrued basis. This was announced by the press center of the Ministry of Finance, quoted by news.bg
Ministry, departments, the National Social Security Institute, the National Health Insurance Fund, municipalities and other institutions must provide data on accrued liabilities to suppliers in the country and abroad, overdue liabilities, commitments made for capital and current expenses from previous years, as well as the total amount of the unreimbursed tax credit as of 31.12.2023, 31.03.2024 and 31.12.2024.
The purpose of The requested information is to prepare the draft budget for 2025 and to make an accurate preliminary assessment of the deficit for 2024, which is part of the Maastricht criteria for Bulgaria's admission to the eurozone.
The Ministry of Finance specifies that the data on the implementation of the 2024 budget published on January 31, 2025 are on a cash basis and are not subject to assessment under the criteria for membership in the eurozone, calling for objectivity in public discussions on the topic.
