Dimitar Glavchev flies to the USA - 1

Officer Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev is leaving tomorrow for the United States of America (USA), where he will participate in The Summit for the Future.

This was announced by the government press office.

The forum will take place on September 22nd and 23rd in New York and is the main event in the so-called A week of high level of the United Nations, in which the heads of state and government from all over the world participate.

Glavchev will participate with speeches in the plenary debate at the high-level meeting and in the interactive dialogue "Towards a common digital future". During the visit to the USA, the acting Prime Minister will meet with representatives of the Bulgarian communities in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

The press service of the Council of Ministers notes that the idea of convening the Summit and adopting a Pact for the Future was launched by the UN Secretary General in 2021 and represents the culmination of efforts to reform global international institutions, including the Security Council UN security and international development banks. The purpose of the Pact for the Future is to reaffirm and strengthen the commitments of states to international peace and security, sustainable development, the protection of the planet and the use of outer space for peaceful purposes.

In annexes to the Pact for the Future, special attention is paid to creating opportunities for the prosperity of future generations and to using the potential of digital technologies for the purposes of peace and development. The most difficult issues in the Pact for the Future negotiations are related to taking responsibility for combating climate change and global warming and reforming international financial institutions and debt relief to better support developing countries.

We remind you that a week ago the Council of Ministers announced that the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov, the Permanent Representative of Bulgaria to the United Nations in New York Ambassador Lachezara Stoeva, directors and experts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also be in the delegation to the USA .
