One man was killed and another seriously injured in a knife attack last night in the Dutch port city of Rotterdam, reported the Associated Press, quoted by BTA, referring to the local police.
Police also said they arrested a suspect who was also injured and taken to hospital for treatment.
Police spokesman Vesel Stole said officers were investigating a melee attack near the Erasmus Bridge. Stolle said there is no information on a possible motive at this time and police are looking at "all possible scenarios".
The Dutch daily "Telegraph" (Telegraaf), citing eyewitnesses at the scene of the attack, reported that a man armed with two knives attacked people at random, shouting the phrase "God is great" in Arabic.
Stole said officers at the scene of the attack also heard the man yell that phrase, and that "it's part of the investigation.
The identities of the victims and the suspect are not clear at this time, and police have not released further details, AP said.
