The municipal councilors in Nessebar approved a change to the Ordinance on determining the amount of local taxes. The decision changes the amount of the tourist tax for overnight stays in class "A" and "B" accommodations. and "In" with a category of one to five stars. The decision was made with 16 votes "for" and five abstained from the regular meeting. The report note was submitted by the mayor of Nessebar Municipality Nikolay Dimitrov, BTA specified.
According to the change, the amount of the tourist tax for each night in accommodations with a category of one to three stars is updated from BGN 0.45 to BGN 0.65.
By BGN 0.25, the tax in four-star class "A" accommodation facilities has been increased, with the new price being BGN 0.80. An increase from BGN 1 to BGN 1.45 is also planned for accommodation places of the same class with a "five star" category.
Funds from the tourist tax cannot cover all the necessary expenses, therefore other sources of financing are included in the budget of the Municipality of Nessebar, but the increase in the tax rate of the tourist tax would lead in the coming years to provide additional funds for expansion and improving some tourist activities such as sports and event tourism, balneotherapy, rural, wedding, hunting and eco tourism, municipal councilor Kiril Kirov indicated the reasons for the proposal.
In his words, in 2023, 2,676,807 tourists passed through the accommodation facilities in the Municipality of Nessebar and 7,939,877 nights were spent. With such a base of realized overnight stays, the expected revenues, with the increased rates of the tourist tax, are expected to be in the amount of BGN 5,500,000, he explained.
With 17 votes "for" and four abstained The Municipal Council in Nessebar accepted the granting of an additional financial subsidy to sports clubs from the Municipality for their participation in international and world competitions. The financial assistance is in the amount of BGN 12,000. The municipal councilors approved the provision of BGN 7,000 to Antoni Todorov, representative of the Sports Club of Combat Sports - Nessebar, for the organization of a children's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament in October of this year. in the city. The funds are also for the preparation for the club's participation in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championship, which will be held this November in Las Vegas, USA. Competitors from the "Bushido" Sports Club will also receive financial assistance of BGN 5,000. for their successful performance in a series of competitions in the 2024 sports calendar
At the session, the municipal councilors in Nessebar also made a decision regarding the holding of a competition for renting for a period of ten years premises in the Nessebar secondary school "Lyuben Karavelov". According to the decree, the public conduct of the competition will be led by the school director. The decision was made with 16 votes "for" and five abstained. The meeting was interrupted for ten minutes after a dispute arose between residents of St. Vlas protesting in front of the building and the representatives of the ObS. The protesters left the meeting hall, saying that their protests would continue. The reason for the protest actions is the dissatisfaction of the demonstrators with the inaction of the Municipality of Nessebar and the Municipal Council in the city regarding the lack of street lighting and road infrastructure in the "Intsaraki" district. Their requests are to take immediate measures to implement the neighborhood's regulatory plan.
