For June, July and August, 2,974 people were found to have driven under the influence of alcohol and 1,164 under the influence of drugs. For comparison, their number for the same period of 2023 was 3109 people and 1245 people, respectively. This was stated in the response of Acting Minister of Internal Affairs Atanas Ilkov to a question from MP Petar Petrov (PG "Vazrazhdane").
A total of 4,110 orders were issued for the application of a compulsory administrative measure for driving a motor vehicle (MVS) – temporary suspension of driver's license.
There were also 1,843 such warrants issued to suspend the registration of the road vehicle for the use of alcohol, drugs or refusal to test. These data were generated by the Automated Information System “Administrative Penal Activity" on 20.09.2024
The pre-trial proceedings instituted for driving a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration above 1.2 per mille for the month of June were 303, for July – 345, and for August – 314. Compared to the same months of 2023, their number is respectively – 370, 464 and 399.
Drugged driving investigations established are: for June – 281, July – 301 and for August – 401, and in 2023 their number is respectively – 344, 433 and 392.
