Rosen Zhelyazkov: I do not share the opinion that the assembly was a mistake

Rosen Zhelyazkov: I do not share the opinion that the assembly was a mistake - 1

Surely everyone evaluates the last 3 years with these constant elections, what it is like to be constantly in pre-election moods. We have been in an election campaign for 9 months. There is no way we can have new messages, convincing communications with the voters, sounding authentic when one month we say things that we said 4 months ago. The situation looks like a hand-me-down with a constant advance of hoes. This was stated by GERB MP and former NA Speaker Rosen Zhelyazkov to bTV, quoted by novini.bg.
“We have to return to the mode of normal functioning of the bodies and institutions, and this is done with a regular government. This means a majority in parliament, implementation of policies and accountability. It means that the state will not be constantly dealing with elections, but with solving problems," he explained.

„The coalition government in the absence of an absolute majority is built around the largest in the parliament. If not around him, then it must be formed around many political entities. 80 MPs are 1/3. When we have 1/4, that is not strong enough political gravity. We tried a coalition on the first night after the last election. We attempted a minority government. Both failed. If we have more deputies, it will show the confidence of the citizens after these efforts. On the other hand, the fragmentation of the parliament with small political entities will make the process even more complicated, he believes.

In his words, in making politics, pragmatism requires a higher degree of taming of confrontation: “The PP-DB colleagues presented their view of an equally remote candidate –this does not seem realistic to us. The moment it is offered, it is immediately attributed to someone else. In the current situation, it is important who takes the political responsibility. After the elections, who is first – we don't necessarily say GERD – puts his program and principles on the table and attracts whoever shares them.”
„I do not share the opinion that the assembly was a mistake. Clearly colleagues must say – if the participation in the cabinet “Denkov-Gabriel” was a mistake, do you consider management a failure? If not, why do they consider it a mistake? This dualism must be expressed very clearly. Both GERB and PP-DB suffered electoral damage”, Zhelyazkov also said.

According to him, a coalition agreement with dates and terms is the only way: “The first person must go to the elections with a clear awareness that there will be a coalition agreement with clear terms, mandates, policies. A coalition is formed on the basis of principles, policies and the signing of an agreement. To anyone who observes these principles, we will accept support. A coalition is a relationship between political entities, not between people.”

He said about PVU: “There are no three bills, no anti-corruption legislation. 6%, even only 1/3 of them, have been mastered by PVU. It's only a few hundred million. We want to adopt quality, not random legislation. One of GERB's mistakes was that it did not send the first version of the Plan.”
Regarding “Magnitsky”, the deputy from GERB emphasized: “This topic is extremely important, because Vladi Goranov is also among the named persons in “Magnitsky”. There are no sanctions there, there are restrictive measures. It is not a punitive regime, but a restrictive one. In order to have an implication within the EU and Bulgaria, because we are a country with strong partnership relations with the USA, it is important that the colleagues provide all the data. This issue cannot be a matter of public opinion, but of law enforcement. As a lawyer, I can speak from a position of law – a criminal is one who has an effective sentence.”
