According to Kanchev, Ukraine is in a difficult situation from a military point of view. There is no movement on the Eastern Front, and the conquered Kursk region turns out to be unimportant to the Russians. He emphasized that “the amendments that Russia is making to its nuclear doctrine suggest that they are preparing for some bargaining with the West and Ukraine”.
Krastev agreed that the situation at the front is not very good for Ukraine, but the losses for the Russian army are also high.
Kanchev also commented on the topic of the Bulgarian army, the idea of defending ourselves and leaving NATO. “These appeals are not realistic. "An army will cost a lot more if we maintain it," the professor said. And he added that the countries that have high-tech weapons are the USA, China and Russia.
Krastev is of the opinion that being neutral and creating our own army is pointless at the moment. And he added that our country does not have enough resources.
