It is wrong to start with a 3% deficit and not to set plans for new revenues. This is what the financier Levon Khampartsumyan said on Nova TV about the draft budget for 2025, quoted by novini.bg.
In his words, the Ministry of Finance is trying to set things up in such a way that the desire to spend is satisfied and we enter the Eurozone. “Some of the most generous promises simply won't be able to be fulfilled,” he said.
The economist Dobromir Ivanov also agreed with his opinion. “It is like a person making a budget for the month and predicting to spend more. The deficit is to take a loan“, he explained.
Hampartzumyan stated that this is like a young person taking out a loan to study. “It is a useful deficit. If we take a loan from the state just to increase salaries in the administration, without more results, it makes no sense," he was categorical.
The banker defined the idea of taxing banks' excess profits as “leftist and populist”. “Who will be the one to say that this is where the normal profit ends, this is where the excess profit ends?”, he asked.
