The chief of staff of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky - Andriy Yermak - reacted on social network X (formerly Twitter) with an emoji depicting a spider web after Ukraine struck over 40 Russian military aircraft.
The post was seen as a symbolic response and reference to the Ukrainian military operation codenamed "Spider Web". According to reports, smoke was seen rising from several Russian air bases located deep in the country as a result of the attacks.
The action is among Ukraine's boldest steps to limit Russian air power in the context of the ongoing conflict.
