"In order for an explosion to occur, there was a concentration of gas in a closed room. There was probably a leak in the house and that is where the explosion occurred". This was commented to BNT by the PR of "Overgas" Dimitar Lazhov regarding the explosion in "Bankya".
"We have too little information. At 11:30 a.m. we learned that an accident had occurred at the address and that there was an explosion that led to destruction. At this stage, there is no information about casualties," Lazhov pointed out.
He explained that inspections of gas installations in private homes are carried out by external companies, not by "Overgas". Protocols are being prepared and submitted to "Overgas", but their initial inspection showed that there has been no protocol for the specific property for 5 years.
"The latest protocol in our archives is from 2020. The protocols must be submitted by the consumer. The obligation for safety lies with the consumers," Lazhov pointed out.
Gas supply in the area was stopped at 11:40 a.m., about 10 minutes after receiving the signal.
