The need for a regular government is undeniable, but as the leader of the largest party and mandate holder, I will not allow false data to be reported to our European partners about the financial condition of the state.
This was stated during a meeting with mayors and chairmen of municipal councils from the Veliko Tarnovo region by GERB leader Boyko Borisov, quoted by dariknews.bg.
"In this regard, at the beginning of next week and before the Council for Good Governance, I want the Ministry of Finance and Minister Petkova to answer me: what and to what extent expenses due for 2024 have been delayed and transferred to 2025, in order to meet the set deficit on a cash basis? All day long I have been listening to all kinds of interpretations of yesterday's official announcement by the Ministry of Finance, according to which everything in the 2024 budget has been implemented as planned. But no one notes, and intentionally, that in small letters it says “on a cash basis”. Which translated means - "what has been paid", Borisov emphasized.
In addition, it is not said anywhere what happens to what has been invoiced but not paid or what the companies have been forced not to invoice for 2024 because they will not be paid and to leave it for 2025. The Ministry of Finance owes answers to these questions. And not Temenuzhka Petkova, but all those who, with Asen Vassilev, have been making the country's budgets for the last 4 years. I want an explanation for the obligations of nearly 3 billion from 2024. And why are they now moving to 2025? Why did the municipalities, which I warned so many times not to dig and not to do anything, fail, because there is no money provided in the budget," asks Borisov.
The GERB leader added that the mayors were promised 7 billion, which is not there, and in 2024 they received only 500 million.
"Another 500 million was transferred to the account for 2025 and the same is with the MRDPW and NRIC. Why is no one talking about 800 million in unpaid VAT to companies? These are the questions that worry me. Not what has been paid, but what should be paid, and then was not paid, just to get the bill. Eurostat said that as of the first nine months of 2024, the deficit was 3.7%. Who will say how much it fell in the fourth quarter to become 3%? We want stable finances, we want the eurozone, we want municipal and state facilities to be built, we want income growth, we want taxes not to be touched, we want all of this. But in 2024, the expenses that were supposed to be made were not made, but were left for 2025, just to make ends meet", Boyko Borisov also stated.
He insists that all appointments to the new government begin after the adoption of the state budget for 2025, referring to deputy ministers and regional governors.
–I draw the attention of the coalition partners - to stop the exercises on the back of the budget, for the sake of party interests, to stop promising social abundance before the final reports on the state of fiscal stability are clear", the leader of the party in power called.
