The Budget Committee votes on the rules for the selection of regulatory bodies without debates - 1

At an extraordinary meeting and without debates, the National Assembly Budget Committee voted on the rules for the selection of regulatory bodies within the powers of the committee.

This starts the procedure for the selection of management positions for the National Audit Office, the Fiscal Council, the Financial Supervision Commission, the Deputy Governor of the "Banking Supervision" Department at the Bulgarian National Bank and the Chairman and members of the Commission for Public Oversight of Registered Auditors.

The PP-DB proposed that the candidates for these positions provide information on whether they were illegally wiretapped with special intelligence means, whether there is an active pre-trial proceeding against them and whether they were in a conflict of interest. “The regulators will be approached in the same way as always - dividing quotas and whoever proposes, will be elected. In the end, it will turn out that Delyan Peevski is holding someone with the SRC, another with pending proceedings and who knows what else”, said Bozhidar Bozanov.

None of these proposals were accepted. The removal of Dimitar Glavchev as head of the Court of Accounts due to a conflict of interest was also not accepted. “We started them because their mandate has long expired. For years we have been saying that the mandate of the regulatory bodies has expired. At the same time, there has been no majority to start these procedures so far. You see that the ruling majority plus other MPs voted "for" the launch of the procedures”, commented the chairman of the finance committee in parliament Delyan Dobrev.
