The first lot of the "Hemus" motorway will enter into operation this year. This was commented on by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov to Nova TV. "This year, since the contract deadline is July, the section between the "Boaza" and "Dermantsi" road junction should also be put into operation. This is the first lot of "Hemus". We will see it in operation this year", he said.
According to him, the road for these 14 km has been under construction for four years. “Now is the time to sign the permit”, Ivanov announced.
“Construction can begin as soon as possible. We have seven days to process the documents, but perhaps we will wait for better weather conditions to begin the actual construction work”, he indicated.
“Over the years, a contractor has been selected, so he can take on his role. He was appointed according to the in-house order. This is “Motorways” and it is in the portfolio of the ministry. The section is not easy. There will be 17 large facilities - underpasses, overpasses and rest areas for cars and trucks”, Ivanov emphasized.
“I believe that the contractors will meet the deadlines and complete the entire “Hemus” motorway in 2026. We will make efforts to implement control”, the minister was categorical.
“Botevgrad-Vidin and Veliko Tarnovo-Ruse are complex sections to implement, I hope that the set deadlines will be met”, Ivanov pointed out.
“We are ready to rehabilitate the blocks. I hope that the municipalities involved will finish on time, because the deadline is June 30, 2026”, the minister said.
