Garbage collection in eight Sofia districts may stop from May 19th, warned two of the cleaning companies - "ZAUBA" EAD and DZZD "Green Partners-BKS", to which the Sofia Municipality owes nearly 9 million leva, they announced in a press release to the media.
In the event of continued non-payment by the Sofia Municipality of the amounts on the invoices issued by us for work performed since December 2024, as of May 19th, "Zauba" EAD and DZZD "Green Partners-BKS" suspend activities under the service of waste collection and transportation, cleaning and maintenance of streets and public places on the territory of Sofia Municipality in the metropolitan areas of "Lyulin", "Krasno Selo", "Ilinden", "Nadezhda", "Serdika", "Izgrev", "Slatina" and "Poduyane", BTA listed.
The work performed was accepted without comments or objections by the client. Despite our repeated written notifications, as well as a number of conversations with representatives of the municipality holding various positions, including those in management positions, no one has made a commitment regarding the payment of the debts to the two companies, they state in their statement to the media.
The delay by the Sofia Municipality in paying the amounts due leads to unbearable difficulties for the two companies in connection with the payment of the due wages of workers, insurance contributions, taxes and road tolls, as well as for meeting all other expenses to suppliers and contractors, for consumables, equipment, materials, etc., the companies also state.
BTA recalls that in total the funds for the activities of collection, transportation and disposal in landfills or other facilities of household waste, design and construction of new installations, as well as for maintaining the cleanliness of the territories for public use for 2025, are in amount of 302,192,935 leva.
