An 82-year-old man from Sandanski has been arrested on suspicion of fornicating with a 9-year-old girl, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs-Blagoevgrad announced.
He is accused of luring the girl to his home and promising to pay a certain amount in exchange for fornicating with the child. The suspect's home is located on "Rhodopi" street in Sandanski.
The child's relatives were questioned and confirmed the case.
The Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs informs that proceedings have been initiated against the elderly man under Article 149 of the Criminal Code. According to it, a person who commits fornication with a person under the age of 14 is punished with imprisonment from one to six years.
