The first vocalist of the legendary British heavy metal band IRON MAIDEN Paul Di'Anno died at his home in Salisbury at the age of 66, reported blabbermouth.net.

Born in Chingford, East London on 17 May 1958 as Paul Andrews, he fronted the band between 1978 and 1981. Paul featured on their first two albums - "Iron Maiden" and "Killers".

After his departure, he had a long career with BATTLEZONE and KILLERS, as well as numerous solo albums and guest appearances.

Despite severe health problems in recent years that left him in a wheelchair, Paul continued to entertain his fans around the world, amassing over 100 concerts since 2023.

His first career retrospective album, "The Book Of The Beast", was released in September 2024 and featured highlights from his recordings since leaving IRON MAIDEN.

Less than two months ago, Paul Di'Ano shared about his treatment, two years after undergoing major knee surgery in Croatia. He told SDTV - Stonedead Festival: “I am improving a hell of a lot. The only problem is, and I'm sad to say it, with my own country, it's a piece of crap here /in the UK/ for the NHS /National Health Service/.

Paul also reflects on his recent meeting with the singer who replaced him in IRON MAIDEN, Bruce Dickinson, in Croatia. Bruce, who is promoting his new solo album “The Mandrake Project”, performed his solo band on July 13 at Zagreb Hall, where Di'Ano was undergoing treatment after knee surgery.

Paul said: "Everyone thinks we hated each other, which is rubbish. We know each other from when he was in SAMSON and everything between us is fine."
