Within the 38th edition of Kinomania, the Bulgarian premiere of "Berlinguer" will take place. The Great Ambition“, which opened the 19th Rome Film Festival on October 16. Andrea Segre's film is one of the biggest Italian historical productions of the year, and it also has a strong Bulgarian presence. The screening in Hall 1 will be attended by the Bulgarian and part of the Italian film crew, and the event is part of the program of the European Solidarity Festival, the theme of which this year is “Walls”.
„Berlinguer. The big ambition“ offers a new look at the biography of Enrico Berlinguer, leader of the Italian Communist Party and one of the most influential political figures in Italy and the world in the 1970s. The film begins with the failed, kept secret assassination attempt against a politician in 1973 in Sofia. Elite Bulgarian actors, a recreation of the Kremlin in Hall 1 of the NDK, unique archival footage from Sofia and iconic Bulgarian buildings from the socialist era give the film its authentic appearance.
„Berlinguer. The big ambition“ has its world premiere as the opening film at the prestigious Rome Film Festival, where it participated in the competition program, and from October 30 it goes to cinemas in Italy. V-k “Guardian“, in a comprehensive article about Berlinguer, father of the “historical compromise“ with the Christian Democrats and the ideas of Eurocommunism as a more liberal version of Communism, notes the historical significance of his personality. Both left-wing and right-wing politicians in Italy emphasize the “moral impeccability” and Berlinguer's charisma as a leader – one of the pioneers in the struggle to achieve clarification in the minefield of world politics in the twentieth century.
