Kiril Marichkov is gone, somehow suddenly, unexpectedly… And, yes, on stage. On his stage, on the rock stage, on the rebellion stage.
Some time ago he spoke to FACTS. With experienced communism – can we forget “… I am not a communist and I will never be“, in the hope of a democracy that we have been living in for 35 years, there were still people like him who were rebels. They brought rebellion into their songs. And with Kiril Marichkov there was a lot of rebellion.
And in his interview he talks about rebellion in rock music… “Isn't that the difference, as Bono (the lead singer of U2) said, between pop music and rock music - that according to pop music, everything is fine, and according to rock, nothing is fine, but you can fix“, Marichkov shared then.
“This is the taste of the times…“ Both then and now, these words apply to our country – maybe, nothing is wrong, since we will go to the seventh election in a row, but the important thing is that “… it can be fixed“.
Kiril Marichkov personified “The taste of time” for several generations. When a musician has been creating for over 50 years, when everyone knows him, when they know his songs, when they sing them, then the mark he leaves is big. Not to mention how much of our nation was conceived on his songs. In other words, there is also a great appeal to the demographics, because his songs are… more than memorable.
„I love you forever and there is no other word…“
And, yes, the rock concert has died down, the hall is already empty…, but the music is alive. On stage, Marichkov was irreplaceable, because you can't mistake his voice.
And because music is stronger than time, we will end with the words of Valdi Totev, who witnessed the ridiculous accident and the fall from the stage in Selo Selanovtsi: “ for Marichkov) on October 30, when he should have turned 80 years old, to have a concert, because his last words were that even without him there would be a concert, because the music is alive.“
