This week's ACT Expo in Las Vegas will showcase Honda's zero-emissions products, including a concept truck. As part of the theme of ensuring the economic and environmental sustainability of the vehicle fleet, Honda CEO Ryan Harty will deliver a speech at the Ultra Clean Heavy Vehicle Summit.
The manufacturer does not hide that the truck concept shows a new demonstration project with the aim of finding business partners from North America for the future production of fuel cell products.
The Class 8 (8 / 2.4 / 4 m) hydrogen fuel cell highway tractor with a weight of 12,918 kg and a payload of 24,355 kg has an autonomous range of 643 kilometers. For trucks of this size, such mileage is quite noticeable and competitive.
The average speed of 112.6 km/h is provided by the system power of the truck, which is 240 kW. The powertrain is a combination of three 80 kW FC systems. For this purpose, the truck is equipped with a high-voltage battery of 120 kWh.
„Commercial vehicles, including Class 8 trucks, where zero-emission fuel cells offer the best replacement for existing diesel engines, are a key part of Honda's broad-based hydrogen business strategy.
Honda is actively seeking business partnerships and customers to help bring these hydrogen fuel cells to market,” said the vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. in sustainability and business development. Ryan Harty.
