Donald Trump's campaign expects to raise more than $40 million today when one of his biggest donors holds its biggest fundraiser ever, the Associated Press reported.

The event at the home of billionaire John Paulson in Palm Beach, Florida, is expected to bring in about $43 million for the former president's third White House campaign.

About 100 guests, including several billionaires, are expected to attend the event. Organizers expect the event to break the single-event fundraising record set by President Joe Biden, who last month raised $26 million at an event attended by former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

"The response to our fundraising efforts has been overwhelming and we have raised over $43 million to date," Paulson, the hedge fund manager, said in a statement. "There is tremendous support among a wide range of donors," he added.

The event is a signal of Trump's resurgence and the fundraising of the Republican Party, which is struggling to catch up with Biden and the Democrats.

Earlier in the week, Trump and the Republican Party announced that they raised more than $65.6 million in March, ending the month with a total of $93.1 million for the former president's campaign. Earlier today, however, Biden and the Democrats said they raised more than $90 million last month and now have more than $192 million.
