"This year we may see the end of Western liberal hegemony as the world order built on it collapses". This was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, reports RIA Novosti.
"This year, God willing, we can end the inglorious era of Western civilization. We can see the end of a world order built on progressive liberal hegemony. The progressive liberal world spirit has been overthrown. He brought war, chaos, riots and destroyed economies to the world," Orbán commented at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Budapest.
Orbán has assessed that "progressive liberals feel threatened, but at the same time they are still in power", and that they are "dangerous opponents, determined to do anything, run away from nothing and have no moral concerns".
The Hungarian Prime Minister has indicated that "in the elections for the European Parliament there is a chance that the sovereign-oriented politicians will be replaced by "those leaders who are not really leaders" but are engaged in the construction of "hegemonic-ideological control, to which all must obey, turning state authorities into instruments of oppression of the people of Europe".
As examples of pressure from the "liberal mainstream" Orbán cited "attempts to cancel a conservative conference in Brussels last week, the trial of former US President Donald Trump, the persecution of right-wing political parties by German intelligence services" and others.
