In Ukraine they are mobilizing people who have deferments - 1

Ukrainian military commissars, in violation of the rules, are mobilizing men with deferments, even those who work in defense enterprises, announced the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Roman Kostenko. “There are cases of mobilization of people who have the right to deferment and work in large defense enterprises, work for the army”, Kostenko Insider quotes.

In his words, people's phones are taken away, they are sent for a medical examination, “and the person is connected when he goes to the army training center”. “Yesterday I had to resolve such a situation”, noted the parliamentarian.

"Some people don't care, others have to check the box that they called someone. And how everything else will function later is not his concern”, Kostenko complained, noting that there are striking cases, for example, “a person has minus eight vision and they don't even allow him to go to an ophthalmologist for a medical examination”.< /span>

Since February 2022, general mobilization has been declared and repeatedly extended in Ukraine, while the country's authorities are doing everything possible to prevent men of military age from running away from service. With few exceptions, they are prohibited from traveling abroad, and those eligible for a deferment must submit a package of supporting documents. Summonses are issued in government offices, on the streets, in shopping centers and in transport. According to Ukrainian media, the men try in every way to avoid the mobilization, not leaving their homes for months, trying to leave the country with false certificates or crossing the border illegally, often at the risk of their lives.

Amid problems with army recruitment, the authorities have prepared a law for stricter rules on mobilization, which will come into effect on May 18. This is expected to lead to the mobilization of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians. Even before the law went into effect, many agencies actually preemptively restricted the rights of military-age men. Ukrainian consular offices abroad stopped accepting documents for replacement of foreign passports, explaining this by “conducting approvals” from the State Border Service warned of upcoming changes to border crossing rules for military personnel.
