The Danish government has allocated 400 million kroner (57.7 million USD) to fight illegal migration, which has serious negative consequences, including loss of life, reports the foreign ministry of the kingdom.
Many countries in the South are now advocating cooperation to prevent the use of “illegal migration routes with the risk of ending up in deeply tragic situations”.
The specified amount is allocated for 2024. By 2029, the government intends to spend 1.1 billion kroner ($159 million) for these purposes.
„Making the dangerous journey to Europe, many migrants find themselves in a dire situation. Many of them are subjected to inhuman trials and some give up their lives trying to reach Europe. They are the ones we would like to protect with measures that will not allow cynical smugglers to smuggle people into Europe”, says the Minister of Cooperation and Global Climate Policy Dan Jorgensen.
