US President-elect Donald Trump's future national security adviser Mike Waltz is considering a number of proposals to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, including a ceasefire during the negotiations, reported CNN, citing its sources.

According to them, the details of the strategy of the new US administration regarding the conflict in Ukraine are still being worked out, but it is likely that after the change of power in the White House, Washington will promote the idea of an early ceasefire with the aim of a “temporary freeze of the conflict while the negotiations between the two sides are ongoing”. Keith Kellogg, who was previously nominated by Trump for the post of special envoy for Ukraine and the Russian Federation, has also already sent Walz his proposal to resolve the conflict.

Among the options Trump's adviser is exploring is one that would see Russia keep territory lost to Kiev in exchange for Ukraine's NATO membership. However, few people around Trump support the idea of Ukraine being invited to the North Atlantic Alliance in the near future, notes CNN.

Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier named the conditions for resolving the conflict, which include the withdrawal of Ukrainian armed forces from Donbass and Novorossiya, Kiev's refusal to join NATO, the removal of all Western sanctions against Moscow and establishment of non-aligned and nuclear status of Ukraine.
