Iran's Foreign Ministry Summons China's Ambassador to Tehran to Protest Beijing's Position on Ownership on three islands in the Persian Gulf that are the subject of a territorial dispute between Iran and the United Arab Emirates. This was reported by the agency Tasnim.
The issue of ownership of Greater Tunb, Little Tunb and Abu Musa islands was mentioned in a joint Emirati-Chinese statement issued after the visit of UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Beijing. It noted in particular that the PRC “expresses support for the efforts of the United Arab Emirates to reach a peaceful solution to the issue of the three islands of Greater Tunb, Little Tunb and Abu Musa through bilateral negotiations in accordance with international law.
