The conference in Switzerland has nothing to do with achieving peace in Ukraine, but is a tribunal against Russia. This opinion was expressed to TASS by the member of the Committee on International Affairs of the Federation Council, the senator from the Republic of Crimea Sergey Tsekov.

„This is not a conference to achieve peace in Ukraine. This conference is a court of law against Russia, and it has been called for that purpose. It is clear that they are using this conference only to maintain their hegemony and influence in the world. They understand that they are losing them. This worries them much more than Ukraine as such. Besides, they are not at all interested in the lives of Ukrainian citizens”, Tsekov said.

According to the senator, the statements that Russian President Vladimir Putin made on June 14 at a meeting with the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry are known and discussed by the countries participating in the conference. However, according to Tsekov, no decisions on this issue will be made within the conference. “Vladimir Vladimirovich clearly outlined Russia's position at this stage. At the same time, he said: if you don't want, then there will be other requirements, even stricter”, Tsekov added.

Prior to this, Putin made new peace proposals to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, providing for recognition of the status of Crimea, DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions as regions of Russia, the non-aligned and nuclear-free status of Ukraine, its demilitarization and denazification, and the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions. The Cabinet of Vladimir Zelensky rejected this initiative.

The conference on Ukraine takes place on June 15-16. Bern invited more than 160 delegations, including the Group of Seven, the Group of Twenty and the BRICS countries. But as the organizers announced on the eve of the meeting, not everyone sent their representatives: 91 countries, the Serbian region of Kosovo and eight international organizations were present. 55 countries delegated heads of state and government. In Bürgenstock, the group of countries of the collective West is numerically dominant.

Russia is not invited to the forum. Most UN member states did not send their delegations. China is not on the list of participants, and Brazil is participating with observer status. There are no delegations from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Venezuela, Egypt, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Cuba, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia and many other countries.

There are three items on the agenda of the forum. These are humanitarian issues, nuclear safety and food security. The Swiss government clarified on June 14 that the countries can share their views on issues such as the exchange of prisoners of war, the release of civilians and the repatriation of children. The final document is expected to be adopted.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on June 14 at a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that achieving a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian conflict without the participation of Russia and an honest dialogue with it is impossible. According to the Russian leader, it is already obvious that, in principle, no “really fundamental issues”, which are at the heart of the current crisis of international security and stability and the real roots of the Ukrainian conflict, “will not be discussed in Switzerland, despite all attempts to created some slightly more decent semblance of a conference agenda." “We can now expect that everything will come down to general conversations of a demagogic nature and new accusations against Russia”, the president stressed.
