About 190,000 recruits have signed contracts with the Russian armed forces from the beginning of the year until now, said former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, quoted by Reuters, writes BTA.

Medvedev, now deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, said on average about 1,000 people sign contracts with the country's armed forces every day, according to the RIA Novosti news agency.

Russia is encouraging people to join the war in Ukraine by offering them pay that is significantly above average, notes Reuters.

According to President Vladimir Putin, there is no need for Moscow to resort to new mobilization, as a large number of men sign contracts for voluntary service.
