Ivo Injev: Orban wants Ukraine to capitulate - 1

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban wants Ukraine to capitulate.

This is what he told "Focus“ the journalist, writer and publicist Ivo Injev on the occasion of the visit of the Prime Minister of Hungary first to Kyiv, then to Moscow.

"Orbán was last in Ukraine in 2015, when he spoke with the previous president Petro Poroshenko, but instead he met Russian President Vladimir Putin for the second time after shaking hands with him in Beijing, contrary of all the trends and mutual agreements of the EU, whose rotating president at the moment is precisely Orban as Prime Minister of Hungary. The imbalance in his relationship with one side and the other is evident, despite the fact that he tried to frame his visit to Kiev as part of his efforts to "go to places where war is being fought and which are close to Hungary.&rdquo ;, explained Injev.

"I am surprised that Zelensky accepted him in Kiev at all, but apparently this is a matter of diplomacy. Orbán went there to legitimize himself as a negotiator with the two sides, while at the same time claiming he was aware he could not mediate as he had no EU mandate to do so. He actually goes in a personal capacity“, added the journalist.

"If we translate his words into an understandable and accessible language, Orban wants Ukraine to capitulate. Kiev to cease fire, and unilaterally, means exactly that. In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin has again confirmed that he has no intention of ceasing the fire and insists that Ukraine fulfill his conditions, which are ultimate. In addition to not joining NATO, a constant in his relations with Kiev, Putin wants Ukraine to hand over four regions that have been conquered by his troops. "Which country in the world would have agreed to something like this, if it still has the will and the ability to resist," he asked.

According to Ivo Injev, it would be "unbelievable” Orban to offer Putin what he offered to Zelensky – ceasefire to speed up peace talks.
