Forest fires in Dalmatia, southern Croatia continue today , and the situation is most severe in Skradin, Sibenik-Knin Region and in Tučepi and Varsine, Split-Dalmatia Region, the Croatian Fire Service (HVZ) announced this morning, as quoted by HINA and BTA.
„The fires in Skradin, Varsine and Tuchepi remain active, firefighters worked throughout the night. Personnel will be replaced this morning and efforts to contain the fire will continue. This morning, the air force joined the fight against the fire in Versine," said the deputy head of the fire service Joško Grancic.
„A problem in Tuchepi is heavy smog and the air force will be involved as soon as conditions improve,” he added.
The Croatian Fire Service reported 114 fire interventions in Croatia in the last 24 hours, involving 173 fire organizations with a total of 509 firefighters and 181 fire trucks. The figures do not include personnel involved in fighting fires that broke out previously and are still active.
