Services continue search and rescue operations at the site of an Israeli airstrike on a school in the Gaza Strip. As reported by the Qatari television channel Al Jazeera, clearing the rubble is complicated by the fire.
According to Palestinian journalist Hossam Shabat, quoted by the television channel, rescuers hear the screams of people trapped under the rubble. According to Shabbat, they cannot help them because of the fire, which cannot be extinguished because the water supply has been cut off by the Israeli army.
Earlier, the Iranian television channel Press TVreportedthat more than 100 people were killed and dozens injured as a result of an Israeli strike on a school in Gaza City. A spokesman for the Gaza Strip's civil defense told Agence France-Presse that the building was hit by three rockets.
The Israeli armed forces earlier announced the destruction of the headquarters of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas at the Al-Tabaen school in Gaza City in the northern part of the Palestinian enclave.
