Solid discord and accusations in Germany: The Chancellor's support for Ukraine is too hesitant! - 1

The German Minister of Foreign Affairs Analena Berbock today accused Chancellor Olaf Scholz's German Social Democratic Party (GSDP) of weakening its support for Ukraine just two weeks before key provincial elections, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

Berbok, who is a member of the "Greens" and is a staunch supporter of Ukraine in its war against Russia, he said at a party meeting in the capital of Brandenburg province, Potsdam, in eastern Germany.

In the run-up to provincial elections on September 22, Berbock said she had counted on Brandenburg Prime Minister Dietmar Wojtke to continue supporting Ukraine, but was worried after the regional structure of the GSDP wavered over arms supplies to the country in pre-election information for voters.

In the document in question, GSDP answered "neutrally" of the statement: "Brandenburg must work to ensure that Germany continues to supply arms to Ukraine".

Berbock said she is concerned about how Scholz, who is her fellow Potsdamer, will vote in the upcoming election.

"Who should he actually vote for in Brandenburg on September 22nd," she asked herself.

If Vojdke and his party do not correct their course, Scholz will have to vote for the "Greens", the foreign minister joked.

Since February 2022, Ukraine has been fending off a full-scale Russian invasion with support from Western countries, including Germany and especially the United States.
