Russian President Vladimir Putin also said that Russia is considering limiting exports of uranium, titanium and nickel in response to the West, Reuters reported, as quoted by BTA.

„Please look at some of the types of goods that we supply to the world market [...] Maybe we should think about some restrictions - uranium, titanium, nickel”, Putin told Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Russia is the fourth largest producer of uranium, according to data from the World Nuclear Association, cited by Reuters. US President Joe Biden banned by law the import of enriched uranium from Russia.

In 2023, the largest importers of Russian uranium were: USA, China, South Korea, France, Kazakhstan and Germany.

Russia is also the third largest producer of the so-called a titanium sponge that is processed into metal for use in the automotive, shipbuilding and aerospace industries.

The Russian company “Nornickel“ is the world's second largest producer of refined nickel.
