High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, regretted that no one could force Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip against "Hamas" and in Lebanon against "Hezbollah", reported France Press, quoted by BTA.
"We are exerting all diplomatic pressure for a ceasefire. However, no one seems to be able to stop Netanyahu, be it in Gaza or the West Bank," Borrell told reporters after a UN Security Council meeting on the Middle East conflict.
The head of European diplomacy has previously criticized Israel for its actions since the outbreak of the conflict caused by the attack carried out by "Hamas" on October 7 last year.
"We are heading for a long war", predicted the 77-year-old Spaniard from Catalonia, who will step down at the end of the year from the post he will be succeeded by former Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kalas.
