At least two "Katyusha" were intercepted over a military base near Baghdad, where American units are stationed, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
Two U.S. officials said initial reports indicated the base had been attacked with a total of three missiles, one of which landed near buildings used by Iraqi counterterrorism forces. Vehicles were damaged in the impact, but no one was injured.
About 2,500 US troops are stationed in Iraq, which maintains partnership relations with both Washington and Tehran. The Iraqi security forces also include some Iranian-backed factions that have repeatedly attacked American units since the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip on October 7.
