A large fire at a manufacturing plant in northwest Berlin was extinguished early this morning, fire services say in the German capital, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
About 120 firefighters were dispatched shortly before dawn to the "Ridemannweg" in the northern capital district of Charlottenburg, a spokesman said. According to him, the quick actions of the teams prevented the spread of the fire to the neighboring buildings.
„The situation is under control. "We don't think the fire will spread further," the spokesman said.
The fire service has dispatched a team of drones and a fire-fighting boat as the site is located near a large canal.
The fire is reported to have spread to an area of 1,400 square meters and the roof of the building collapsed.
The city's disaster warning system has alerted of a foul smell, and residents have been urged not to open their windows.
