The European Commission announced today that it is granting new humanitarian aid worth €30 million to Lebanon, after the country suffered from the clashes between Israel and the Iranian-backed Lebanese Shiite group "Hezbollah", reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
„I am extremely disturbed by the constant escalation of tensions in the Middle East. "All parties to the conflict must do everything in their power to protect the lives of innocent civilians," said EC President Ursula von der Leyen.
The EU last granted 10 million euros to Lebanon on September 29, and with the amount announced today, the total value of humanitarian aid from the European bloc to the Middle Eastern country this year already exceeds 104 million euros, according to Reuters.
