The leader of "Hezbollah" Hassan Nasrallah agreed to a ceasefire with Israel before he was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut, Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib said, quoted by CNN and TASS.

"He agreed. Yes, the Lebanese side agreed. Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri consults with 'Hezbollah' and we informed the representatives of the USA and France about the decision", he stressed, quoted by News.bg.

On September 17 and 18, thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah members exploded, killing and injuring many. The Lebanese group blamed Israel for the incidents.

On September 23, Israel launched a military operation against "Hezbollah" in Lebanon, carrying out large-scale strikes on the group's military facilities.

On September 26, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and Qatar called for an immediate 21-day ceasefire on the border between Israel and Lebanon. Subsequently, the "New York Times" reported, citing officials, that the truce proposal could be accepted in the coming hours.

In a strike on September 27, however, Israel liquidated the leader of "Hezbollah" Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut, and on the night of October 1 announced the beginning of a ground operation in the border areas of southern Lebanon.
