The call of “Hezbollah“ for the ceasefire shows that the armed group has suffered a heavy blow and is retreating, said the spokesman of the US State Department Matthew Miller, quoted by Reuters, writes BTA.
The deputy leader of “Hezbollah” Naim Qassem said in a televised address yesterday that the Iran-backed group's capabilities were intact and its fighters were repelling Israeli ground incursions despite the “painful blows” inflicted by Israel in recent weeks.
Qassem said the group supports efforts by Lebanese parliament speaker Nabih Berri, an ally of Hezbollah, to achieve a ceasefire, without elaborating on the terms sought by Hezbollah.

„For a year the world has been calling for a ceasefire, “Hezbollah” refused to agree, and now that “Hezbollah” was retreating and being hit, suddenly changed her mind and demanded a cease-fire,” Miller said.
„Ultimately, we continue to want a diplomatic solution to this conflict,” he added.
